KAPPA SIGMA CHAPTER
Zeta Tau Alpha
Chapter Information:
-
Zeta Tau Alpha, founded in 1898 at what is now Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia, is built on sisterhood, leadership, and service. Its motto, “Seek the Noblest,” reflects members’ dedication to excellence. ZTA fosters intellectual curiosity, individuality, and kindness while prioritizing philanthropy, focusing nationally on breast cancer education and awareness. Through service and education, members empower others and make meaningful contributions. At its core, ZTA is about lifelong friendships, personal growth, and leadership. With sisterhood as its foundation, it provides a supportive environment where members thrive and leave a lasting impact.
-
For over 25 years, Zeta Tau Alpha has been a proud supporter of Breast Cancer Education and Awareness. “Think Pink”, a registered trademark of ZTA, encompasses the events we hold on campus each year. Through partnerships with the American Cancer Society, National Football League, and Bright Pink, we are able to put on our fall event, the Crown Classic softball tournament, as well as our Pink Pageant in the spring. The sisters of Zeta Tau Alpha also support multiple American Cancer Society walks throughout the year. 1 in 8 women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime, which is why all proceeds from these events help the ZTA Foundation to spread education and awareness of this disease and what can be done to diminish and prevent it. We are proud to say that, since 2022 alone, the Kappa Sigma chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha has raised over $100,000 dollars for this cause.
-
Zeta Tau Alpha defines a 'legacy' as a woman whose mother, sister, or grandmother is a member of Zeta Tau Alpha. While Zeta Tau Alpha will always cherish the meaningful connection that legacies have with the sorority, this relationship will no longer impact the membership selection process. Collegiate chapters of Zeta Tau Alpha will no longer offer legacies preferential treatment during recruitment, ensuring that all potential new members are considered based on their individual merits and qualities.
